# Zed

Zed and chock: install methods and steps, what it can enforce, and the evidence behind it.

Install methods: none. Agentseam tier none, grade none before a tool runs.

> Ask the user before running any command on this page: each one changes how their agent or repository behaves.

## Install methods

- Not wired: agentseam records no hook in this agent that can stop an action, so chock has nothing to wire.

## Evidence wanted

Chock has not seen this agent run its hooks yet. If you use it, you can help: [agentseam issue #186](https://github.com/open-coder-ai/agentseam/issues/186)

## What it can enforce

- Tier: none
- Grade before a tool runs: none
- Fail mode before a tool runs: n/a
- Basis: vendor-docs
- Recorded: 2026-10-11

## Ask support

The engine records no ask claim for this agent.

## Hook timeout

The engine records no timeout for this agent.

## Test status

- No row in the engine's list of live tests for this agent.

## Known limits

No user hooks. Zed documents no command-hook surface for its agent (https://zed.dev/docs/llms.txt has no hooks page; issue #52688 asking for tool-use hooks was converted to a discussion without being built). Its only policy surface is the declarative agent.tool_permissions in settings.json: a per-tool default of confirm, allow or deny plus always_allow, always_deny and always_confirm regex lists (https://zed.dev/docs/ai/tool-permissions). External agents connect over ACP, where the agent MAY ask the client for permission; that is a protocol the agent drives, not a hook an external handler can rely on. No deny path for an external handler, so say so rather than stretch. Evidence wanted (to test or overturn this row): https://github.com/open-coder-ai/agentseam/issues/186
